Neu-Rum , also Neurum , is a district of the municipality of Rum in the Innsbruck-Land district in Tyrol .
geography
Neu-Rum is located south of Rum-Markt between Tiroler Straße B 171 and Inn . In the west it connects seamlessly to the Innsbruck districts Olympisches Dorf and Neu-Arzl, with the bullet trap path forming the border. It is divided into the counting districts Neurum-Nord , Neurum-Süd , Austraße-Serlesstraße , Serlesstraße-Siemensstraße and Steinbockallee-Kugelfangweg with a total of 5,522 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2015). In the north and west of the district there are residential buildings, in the south-east an industrial area dominated by numerous shopping malls.
history
Due to its proximity to the regional capital Innsbruck , rum experienced a strong population increase in the second half of the 20th century. After the Second World War, a new residential and commercial area was built on the valley floor south of the main road. In 1952, on the initiative of Albert Andergassen , construction of the first semi-detached and terraced houses of the peace building and settlement cooperative began. Apartment blocks and high-rise buildings were later built south of the small-scale settlement.
In 1968 Neu-Rum received its own elementary school, which was expanded in 1981/82.
In 1977/78 the Catholic Resurrection Church was built according to plans by Horst Parson , and in 1988 Neu-Rum became an independent parish.
traffic
Neu-Rum is connected to Innsbruck and Hall with the regional bus routes 504, 4123, 4125 and 4169, with the city bus routes F and T to large parts of Innsbruck and with the Rumer line (8357) to the town center. On the northern edge is the Rum stop on the Kufstein – Innsbruck railway line , which is served by the S-Bahn Tirol and REX trains. Line 5 of the Innsbruck tram , which currently ends in the Olympic Village, will in future run across Neu-Rum to the Rum train station.
