The nature reserve Neuburg Altrhein, western part is in the local community Neuburg am Rhein in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 18 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1983 , extends northwest of the core town of Neuburg am Rhein.

The protective purpose is the preservation of the diverse and richly structured Old Rhine area with the water areas contained therein, the so-called armored trench , the siltation zones and the reed and reed areas as ideal habitats for a species-rich flora and fauna in all their manifestations, as a location for rare plant species and plant communities as well as Habitat of rare, threatened animal species and for scientific reasons.
