The nature reserve Neuburg Altrhein, southern part is located in the municipality of Neuburg am Rhein in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 18 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1983 , extends south of the core town of Neuburg am Rhein. The Lauter flows on the northern edge, the Rhine flows south . District road 20 runs to the west, south and east . The state border with France runs not far to the southwest, and the state border with Baden-Württemberg not far to the southeast .

The protection purpose is the preservation of the silted up part of the Old Rhine with silting zones and the extensive reed and reed areas as a location for rare plant species and plant communities and as a habitat for rare animal species that are threatened in their existence and for scientific reasons.
