The Black Forest nature reserve is located in the district of Germersheim and the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The 340.97 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection by ordinance of March 4, 1997 , is located in the Mechtersheim district , a district of the local community Römerberg , and in the local community Lingenfeld . The Rhine forms the south-eastern and the Lingenfelder Altrhein the south-western border of the area.

The area includes flooding sows of the Rhine with soft wood - and hardwood stocks , extensively used meadow areas, waste wood - and Kopfweiden stocks , Altrhein waters and Schluten , gravel lakes , sand, gravel and mud flats, river reeds and high Staudenfluren .
