The Bruchbach-Otterbachniederung nature reserve is located in the districts of Germersheim and Südliche Weinstrasse in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is the largest nature reserve in both counties.
The 1543.18 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection by ordinance of August 17, 1988 , extends in three sub-areas between the local community of Rheinzabern in the northeast and the French city of Wissembourg in the southwest. The state road 546 and the B 427 run not far to the north ; the A 65 cuts through the area in a north-south direction.
The area includes valley areas along the Bruchbach and Otterbach , reed beds , wet and wet meadows, tall herbaceous vegetation , large sedge and near-natural forest areas.
