location

The village is three kilometers north of the center of Kirchroth in the valley of the Kößnach . The surrounding villages are Aufroth , Saulburg and Geßmannszell .

history

It is not possible to determine with certainty whether the name of the place comes from clearing or whether it refers to the red water . On the one hand, clearing by monks took place here in the 9th century, and on the other hand, today's places Kirchroth, Aufroth, Rotmühl, Roth or Kragenroth also contain the river name. Neuroth and in 1818 belonged to the Bavarian district court of Mitterfels . According to the diocesan register of 1860, two houses with 13 residents were counted in the wasteland of Neuroth. When the unified municipality of Kirchroth was created on May 1, 1978, the districts of Aufroth and Neuroth together had 220 inhabitants.
