Oberzeitldorn , officially Zeitldorn until 1951 , is a village in the Lower Bavarian municipality of Kirchroth in the Straubing-Bogen district . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Oberzeitldorn is located on the edge of the Bavarian Forest in the Gäuboden north of the Danube . The Große Perlbach flows through the village . The neighboring villages are Pondorf , Pillnach , Untermiethnach and Weiher . The closest cities are Straubing and Wörth an der Donau . The popular Danube Cycle Path leads through the village.

history

Oberzeitldorn owes its name to beekeeping (Zidelaere = mhd. Beekeeper). It received the addition "Ober-" to distinguish it from Unterzeitldorn , with which it has nothing to do otherwise. Since there is also a Zeitlarn north of Regensburg , it is difficult to identify the location based on early documents. It is possible that notes from the Emmeram traditions from 1120/1126 already refer to the place. A certain name of Oberzeitldorn is only known from the 14th century, when the Windberg Monastery bought a farmstead here.

Oberzeitldorn was the seat of an office of the rule Wörth and came to Bavaria only after the dissolution of the principality of Regensburg . In the cadastre of 1811/1812 Oberzeitldorn is recorded with forty properties.

In 1818 the municipality of Zeitldorn was formed. It comprised the three places Oberzeitldorn, Leiten and Weiher as well as a district of almost 541 hectares . It belonged to the district of Regensburg until the end of July 1945 , then to the district of Straubing , which became part of the newly founded district of Straubing-Bogen on July 1, 1972. On May 1, 1978, the community was dissolved and incorporated into Kirchroth.

Until April 26, 1951, the place and the community carried the name Zeitldorn . The name Zeidlarn was also used historically .

In the middle of the 20th century Oberzeitldorn was known as an equestrian village and attracted many holidaymakers.
