Neustift is a place in the municipality of Scheibbs . The official name of the cadastral community in which Neustift is located is Neustift bei Scheibbs .
The Neustift industrial estate in the Erlauftal valley south of the town of Scheibbs was established in the 17th and 18th centuries through the establishment of hammer mills . Tool production began in 1843 under Franz Freiherr von Wertheim .
In Dreimärkterstraße and Strudenzeile, the core of the former hammer mills still exist, some of which still have their Biedermeier facades. The former factory settlement is today largely offset by residential developments from the 20th century. The former Strudenmühle was in Dreimärkterstraße 2 and is now used as a small power station. Former factory buildings in Wertheim are used as a building yard. On Strudenzeile 1 stands the former Strudenhammer, the core of which is from the 17th century, with a groin vaulted hallway.
