Niamey II is located on the left bank of the Niger River between the arrondissements of Niamey I and Niamey III . The Nigerien National Museum, opened in 1959, is located in the south of Niamey II .

Niamey II consists of an urban area, which is divided into 20 districts (quartiers) , and a rural area with a village (village) and four hamlets (hameaux) .

history

Niamey II has existed in its current area since 1996. The city of Niamey was divided into five districts in 1984. In 1989 the 1st and 2nd districts were merged to form a municipality ( French : commune urbaine ) within Niamey. This municipality was named Niamey I and until 1996 comprised the area of ​​today's Arrondissements Niamey II, Niamey I and part of today's Arrondissement Niamey III . In 2010, the municipalities of Niameys were converted into arrondissements.
