Nicolas Adames (born December 9, 1813 in Ulflingen , † February 13, 1887 in Luxemburg (city) ) was the first bishop of Luxemburg .

Nicolas Adames was ordained a priest on August 25, 1839, and on March 27, 1863 he was appointed titular bishop of Halicarnassus and vicar apostolic of Luxembourg. The episcopal ordination donated him on June 29, 1863 Nicolas-Joseph Dehesselle , the Bishop of Namur ; Co- consecrators were Wilhelm Arnoldi , Bishop of Trier , and Paul-Georges-Marie Dupont des Loges , Bishop of Metz .

In December 1869, Nicolas Adames took part in the First Vatican Council in Rome as one of 744 bishops .

On June 27, 1870, the Vicariate Apostolic of Luxembourg was elevated to a diocese and Nicolas Adames was appointed bishop of the new diocese. His official enthronement was on December 25th. The Cathedral of Our Lady in Luxembourg City became the bishopric.

For political reasons, Bishop Adames was buried in the Glacis Chapel.
