Nicolas Koeckert (born November 9, 1979 in Munich ) is a German violinist .

biography

The German-Brazilian violinist Nicolas Koeckert, who comes from a well-known family of musicians, received his first violin from his grandfather at the age of 5. He began his academic studies at the age of 16 at the University of Music in Würzburg with Grigori Zhislin . Nicolas studied from 1998 at the Cologne University of Music with Zakhar Bron . Since then he has appeared regularly as a soloist. He passed his artistic diploma in Cologne in 2005 with distinction. He finished his studies in 2007 with the concert exam.

In 2001 he received first prize at the International Competition for Young Violinists Novosibirsk , the special prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece and the city of Novosibirsk's culture prize. After that, in 2002, Nicolas Koeckert was the first German violinist to win a prize at the world-famous "International Tchaikovsky Competition" in Moscow. In the same year, the Free State of Bavaria awarded him the art sponsorship award. In 2003 he was again a prize winner at the Montreal International Musical Competition . In the same year Nicolas also won 2nd prize at the Montreal International Musical Competition in St. Petersburg.

Recordings

The young violinist recorded several works for Bayerischer Rundfunk: “Ballade” solo sonata No. 3 by Eugène Ysaÿe, Edward Grieg's C minor sonata, the sonata by Maurice Ravel, various Tchaikovsky pieces, Bartók's solo sonata, Antonio Bazzini's “Tanz der Kobolde ”,“ Sibelius ”Violin Concerto and the 2nd Violin Concerto by Szymanowski. The CD "Russian and Slavic features" by Fritz Kreisler was in the scientific journal The Strad selected for the best shot in December 2005 by Naxos Germany as CD of the month of June of 2004. His CD for Naxos with arrangements by Igor Frolov with his pianist Kristina Miller-Koeckert was released in January 2008. Also for Naxos, Nicolas recorded the Chatschaturjan Violin Concerto and the Concert Rhapsody in April 2008 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of José Serebrier, which came on the market in May 2009. Nicolas has been teaching regularly for four years and giving master classes at home and abroad.
