Niederehren is part of the local community Seifen in the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The place belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Flammersfeld .

location

Niederavia is located in the Holzbachtal on the edge of the Rhine-Westerwald nature park , about nine kilometers southwest of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) . The district of Niederorien borders in the north on Seifen and Niederwambach , in the east on Ascheid and in the south and west on Oberehre . This means that Niederavia is surrounded by the Neuwied district in the east, south and west . The Wambach flows into the Holzbach in the area around Niederorien.

Niederavia is located on a local road, about 150 meters south of state roads 267 between Altenkirchen and Puderbach and 269 to Oberlahr . The line of the disused Engers – Au railway is located south of Niederorien .

history

The village of Niederehren emerged from the historic Hofwüstung Ähren and initially belonged to the County of Sayn and later from 1636 to 1799 to the County of Sayn-Hachenburg . After that, Niederehren belonged to the Principality of Nassau-Weilburg and then from 1806 to the Duchy of Nassau . There Niederähren was a village in the Office Schöneberg in the administrative district of Ehrenbreitstein . After the agreements at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the area around Niederorien became part of the Kingdom of Prussia . The place there belonged to the mayor's office Flammersfeld in the Altenkirchen district in the Coblenz administrative district . Since 1822 Niederehren was part of the Rhine Province .

In 1884 the Holzbachtal was opened up by the railway, which was mainly used to transport the iron ore extracted in the surrounding mines . The Flammersfeld mayor's office was renamed to Amt Flammersfeld in 1937, from which on January 1, 1968 the Verbandsgemeinde Flammersfeld was formed. Traffic on the so-called Holzbachtalbahn (Engers – Au line) was largely stopped in 1984.
