Noel Andrew Rucastle

Noel Andrew Rucastle (born April 22, 1968 in Upington ) is a South African clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Oudtshoorn .

Life

Noel Andrew Rucastle grew up in Kimberley and attended St. Patrick's Christian Brothers College there . Rucastle then studied law at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein . In 1993 he entered the St. Francis Xavier seminary in Cape Town , where he completed the theological preparatory course. Rucastle studied philosophy at the St. Peter Seminary in Garsfontein from 1994 to 1995 and Catholic theology at the St. John Vianney Seminary from 1996 to 1998 and at St. Joseph's Theological Institute in Cedara from 1998 to 1999 . He received on 14 July 2000, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After his ordination, Noel Andrew Rucastle served as parish vicar in the parish Corpus Christi in Wynberg before he became parish administrator of the parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Kraaifontein in 2006 . In 2006 Rucastle was sent to Canada for further studies , where he obtained a licentiate in Canon Law from Saint Paul University in Ottawa in 2010 . From 2010 to 2012 Rucastle was the parish administrator of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Town. In 2011 he became official of the Archdiocese of Cape Town . In addition, Noel Andrew Rucastle was pastor of the parish of St. Anthony in Hout Bay from 2012 to 2018 and pastor of the parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Bellville since 2018 .

On May 4, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Oudtshoorn. The Archbishop of Cape Town, Stephen Brislin , donated to him on August 8 of that year in the St. Savior's Cathedral in Oudtshoorn , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Port Elizabeth , Vincent Mduduzi Zungu OFM , and the Bishop of Keimoes-Upington , Edward Gabriel Risi OMI .
