The Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadium (short: Hitachi Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Dutch city ​​of Groningen in the province of the same name in the north-east of the country. The stadium is also known by the nicknames De Groene Hel ( German  The Green Hell ) and De Groene Kathedraal ( German  The Green Cathedral ).

history

The stadium has been the new home of FC Groningen since January 1, 2006 , which until then played in the Oosterpark stadium . In spring 2002, construction of the Euroborg stadium complex began. The stadium has a capacity of 22,579 seats. The stadium is located in Europark , a completely newly created district at the end of the Oude (old) Winschoterdiep in the east of Groningen. The costs amounted to 45.5 million euros (total complex: 160 million euros). The plans came from the architects Wiel Arets in Maastricht .

In June 2016 it became known that FC Groningen had agreed on a sponsorship contract for six years with the Groningen-based company Noordlease BV . From July 1, 2016, the Euroborg was sponsored by the Noordlease Stadion .

In July 2018, the venue was given a new name after Noordlease BV was taken over by Hitachi Capital Mobility in 2017. The existing contract until 2022 will remain in place with the same conditions.
