Nordin Gerzić (born November 9, 1983 in Bosanska Gradiška ) is a Swedish football player with Bosnian roots. The midfielder made his debut for the Swedish national team in 2011 .

Career

In 1994 Gerzić came to Sweden. There he joined the youth department of Eskilstuna City FK , where he kicked the ball until 1997. He then moved to Örebro SK . After he was not used there in the first team, he went on loan to local rivals Rynninge IK in 2003 . With the club he missed the relay victory in the third division as third in the table behind IK Brage and Degerfors IF , but the club committed him firmly. Although he was relegated with the team at the end of the following season, he remained loyal to the club and then distinguished himself as one of the best offensive players in the fourth division.

After Gerzić returned to training at Örebro SK in early 2007 as a test player, he signed a professional contract with the club in March of that year. In his debut season in the Allsvenskan he was a substitute player and played all of his eight season appearances as a substitute. In the 2008 season he established himself as a regular on the club's offensive under the new coach Sixten Boström . While initially places in the middle of the table were achieved, he surprised with the team at the side of Magnus Kihlberg , Samuel Wowoah , Patrik Anttonen and Michael Almebäck in the 2010 season as third in the table. With his performances in the course of the season, he had also drawn national coach Erik Hamrén's attention. In December, he and his teammate Almebäck nominated him for the South African tour of the national team in January 2011. In the 2-1 victory over the Botswana national team on January 19, 2011, he made his debut as a substitute for Alexander Gerndt in the 82nd minute of play in the national jersey . Three days later he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 1-1 draw against South Africa . In the summer of 2011, the midfielder extended his contract with ÖSK for five years. He could not confirm the previous year's success with the club, but as twelfth in the table, the club was eight points ahead of the relegation place .

In the winter break before the 2012 season , Gerzić successfully negotiated just six months after his contract extension with league rivals IFK Göteborg , with whom he signed a four-year deal. With a transfer fee of 7.5 million Swedish kronor reported by the press, it would be the most expensive exit in the history of Örebro SK. Under coach Mikael Stahre , however, he fluctuated between starting XI and substitute bench at his new club, and he was in the starting eleven in only twelve of his 23 appearances this season.

In August 2013 Gerzić returned on loan until the end of the season to Örebro SK, who had meanwhile been relegated to the second-class Superettan .
