Magnus Kihlberg (born October 25, 1973 in Örebro ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder has played his career in Norway and Sweden so far.

Career

Kihlberg first played for Karlslunds IF and BK Forward before moving to the traditional Gothenburg club Örgryte IS . For the club he ran under coach Karl-Gunnar Björklund in the 1995 season in the Allsvenskan and reached seventh place in the table with the promoted team. After he had contributed to the league in the following season as a three-time goalscorer alongside Marcus Allbäck , Henrik Bertilsson , Jozo Matovac and Svante Samuelsson , he left the club for Norway.

Kihlberg was brought into the Tippeligaen by coach Even Pellerud for Lillestrøm SK . After he found himself in a relegation battle in his first year with the club, he got places in the top division under the new coach Arne Erlandsen . In the 2001 season he contributed in 25 league games to the runner-up behind Rosenborg BK . He also reached the semifinals of the Norwegian National Cup with the team around Arild Sundgot , Arne Vidar Moen , Magnus Powell and Roger Helland . After a seventh place in the following season, he moved within Norway to league rivals Molde FK , where his compatriot Gunder Bengtsson worked as a coach.

At last year's runner-up he played alongside Bernt Hulsker , Arild Stavrum and Daniel Berg Hestad in 24 league games, but the previous year's success of the club as ninth in the table could not be confirmed, so Odd Berg replaced Bengtsson as coach over the course of the season . Even under the new trainer he was one of the regulars, but with the club he was in danger of relegation. In the 2005 season he played 25 of the 26 season games. On the one hand, the club slipped to the relegation spot, on the other hand, the team made it to the cup final. While after two victories over Moss FK the league was accomplished, succeeded by a 4: 2 victory after extra time with goals from Rob Friend , Madiou Konate , Berg Hestad and John Andreas Husøy with back gates of Khaled Mouelhi and Sundgot in Oslo Ullevaal Stadium , the second Cup victory in the history of the club.

However, Kihlber turned his back on Norway and moved back to Allsvenskan, where he signed a three-year contract with IFK Göteborg, which his former coach Erlandsen looked after . The 2006 season was hapless, so he left the club after an eighth place in the table. The next stop was the Norwegian club Aalesunds FK , with whom he signed for two seasons. In the new league he played 22 games by the end of the season, where he was a substitute at times, and scored three goals to keep the league.

Again, Kihlberg's stay lasted only one season. Before the start of the Allsvenskan season in 2008 , he returned to Sweden and signed with Örebro SK . At the side of Samuel Wowoah , Kim Olsen and John Alvbåge , he was one of the pillars that helped the club to midfield in the first two years. At the club he was promoted to team captain . In preparation for the 2010 season, he injured his hand and fell out. At the start of the season, the defensive player had his most dangerous season in the Allsvenskan with three goals this season. In addition, the team coached by Sixten Boström surprised as third in the table and moved into the European Cup. In December 2010, the club and the players agreed to extend the contract by one year. Still regularly in the squad, however, he moved into the second member and was only in the starting lineup in 13 of his 22 season games in the 2011 season . At the end of the season, he no longer extended his expiring contract.

Kihlberg played for various Swedish youth selections, but a use in the Swedish national team was denied him.
