An old chronicle mentions a grinding mill in the village at the end of the 17th century. In the traditions of older residents, there is also talk of a windmill on Klötzerhübel .
The first documentary mention dates from 1791.

August Schumann called 1820 the state postal and newspaper lexicon of Saxony Oberlochmühle only as belonging to upper Seiffenbach mill on the torrent without further settlements.

In the Chronicle of Oberseiffenbach, 23 houses with 182 inhabitants are noted for Oberlochmühle in 1880. There used to be 6 mills in the village, which mainly powered woodworking machines via transmission . There were also rental lathes in the various lathes. Were produced spring box , technical wood products, space and table decorations and wooden toys . Small bowling games for children are particularly worth mentioning. In addition to small farms in full and part-time jobs, the residents worked as forest workers , in a forge , the local shop , the inn or in the bakery .

In 1875 Oberlochmühle was a district of Oberseiffenbach. On April 1, 1939, it was reorganized into a district of Deutschneudorf.

With the construction of the Olbernhau-Grünthal – Deutschneudorf railway line , the place with the stop of the same name was connected to the railway on May 3, 1927. With the construction of the railway, tourism also found its way into Oberlochmühle. On May 22, 1966, passenger traffic on the line was stopped, tracks and steel bridge superstructures were dismantled in 1971.

A relic of the railway is the partially dismantled stone viaduct with a length of 103.5 meters and a height of up to 8 meters not far from the mouth of the Wildsbach into the Schweinitz.

In the middle of the 20th century there were two larger holiday homes in the village , the number of beds even exceeding the population of the place.

On November 6, 2010, after two years of planning and three months of construction, the “Chapel on the Way” was inaugurated. It is the first hiking chapel in the Saxon Ore Mountains.

Since April 18, 2015, Oberlochmühle, with a porcelain bell made from Meissen porcelain , has been one of a total of 16 stations on the First German Bell Hiking Trail . The hiking route leads on a circular route from Deutschneudorf , Brüderwiese , Deutscheinsiedel , Seiffen , Oberseiffenbach , Oberlochmühle, Deutschkatharinenberg back to Deutschneudorf past various bells.
