The Oberschule Geising is a high school founded in 1875 with all-day operation in the Altenberg district of Geising .

history

The Geisinger Oberschule was founded in 1875. Until the turn of 1989 it was called POS Grete Walter . Grete Walter was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism and committed suicide in Berlin-Kreuzberg in 1935 for fear of further reprisals by the Gestapo . In 1986/87 an extension was added to the school with connecting corridors. The old school had a combined chemistry and physics cabinet, and additional rooms such as the cooking cabinet were set up in the new building.

Until 1989, the catchment area of the POS Grete Walter, where grades 1-10 were taught, included the places Geising (with Hartmannmühle), Löwenhain and Fürstenau . In 1977 there were still other outsourced classrooms due to a lack of space in the main school building. In the municipal office in Fürstenau there were two classrooms, one was later converted into the Fürstenau kindergarten and the second later into the Fürstenau library . After the kindergarten had been set up in Fürstenau, the Löwenhain kindergarten, which was located in the Löwenhain municipal office, was moved to Geising and another classroom was set up in Löwenhain. In the building of the Geisinger cinema there were other branches of the school: a classroom, in which predominantly optional lessons such as needlework were taught, and the cabinet of works . After moving into the new school building in the 1988/89 school year, the branch offices were closed. Students in their final year 1986/87 helped in non-profit work setting up the new school building and clearing out the branches of the Geisinger school.

In 1992 the Geisinger School was named a middle school in the Geising / Altenberg catchment area. It became a profile school (division of technology , housekeeping and sports ) and received 40,000  DM for the computer cabinet. In 1993, under the direction of Mr. Walter, the first group of school pilots was created in cooperation with the police and the roundabout watch , which took over the training of the pilots. Next to the Geisinger Gründelstadion, the 4 million DM, new gymnasium was built in 1994, which is about 200 meters away from the school. The old gym was about a kilometer away from the school in a room in a barrack at the youth hostel on the Hüttenteich. In 1995 a utility room was built in the school for 55,000 DM. The school library with around 500 books was set up in April 1999. In the same year the physics cabinet was renovated and refurbished for 46,000 DM. In 2000, the Geising Middle School celebrated its 125th anniversary with a ceremony. The caretaker's apartment , which was on the upper floor of the school, was converted into a modern computer cabinet in 2002 for around 34,000 euros . In order to ensure the implementation of the new curricula , the school set up another computer cabinet in 2005. This was funded by the media offensive of the Saxon State Ministry for Culture , MEDIOS-EFRE-II funding of computer equipment with EU funds from the European Fund for Regional Development . In 2006 the catchment area was expanded due to restructuring. From then on, the students of the Glashütte middle school also settled in Geising. In 2007 the entrance area of the school was redesigned and the stairwell renovated. In the following year, the completely renovated and modern chemistry cabinet was handed over.

At the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, the middle schools were renamed as high schools across Saxony.
