Obluchye ( Russian Облучье ) is a rajonunterstellte town in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in the Far East of Russia , while the second largest town in the area. It is located about 160 km west of the regional capital Birobidzhan , on the Amur tributary Chingan . The city has 9,379 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
history
Oblutschje was created in 1911 as a station settlement in the course of the relocation of a rail section of the Trans-Siberian Magistrale . The place name is of Russian origin and means something like "bypass", as the railway line makes a large curve around several mountains in this area. Obluchye received city status in 1938.

Economy and Infrastructure
The Soloto Sutary gold mining company is based in the city . There are also railway workshops in Obluchye and a station on the Trans-Siberian Railway . There is also a Russian Orthodox parish there .
