Obscenity Trial is a German electronic band.

history

Established 1993–1998

The founding father Oliver Wand , who was still living in the Ruhr area at the time, discovered his love for singing while still at school . In April 1993 he started the band Obscenity Trial with two friends, which means something like "indecent attempt".

After the first rehearsals and the writing of their first own songs, the first live performances followed in autumn 1993. A first milestone in the band's history was the first appearance in the sold out Biskuithalle near Bonn in October 1994 in front of 2000 visitors. Due to the success, the event was repeated in March 1995. By then the band had also finished their first demo tape .

In November 1995 the trio behind the abbreviation OT got the chance to perform with The Fair Sex in the X-Floor, Münster . As before in Bonn, Obscenity Trial thrilled the audience that they should appear again in April 1996 on the X-Floor - this time in the opening act for Suicide Commando and with the self-produced CD Intoxication . This concert on the X-Floor was followed by further performances at festivals in April 1996 , including “Neue Zeit” in Schwedt .

Between November 1995 and April 1996 there were further concerts in Zöblitz with Tyske Ludder and again in the Biskuithalle Bonn with Die Maschine .

In 1996 the press reported positively about Obscenity Trial and another milestone in the band's history was noted when the band's greatest success to date was achieved off-stage: the listing on the Underground Records ( USA ) mailorder list in November 1996.

In 1998, Obscenity Trial broke up due to personal and professional developments.

1998-2005

Oliver Wand, who lives in the Rhineland , then decided to study private singing with the opera singer Anno Lauten in Cologne and was on the road with various projects and programs on the small and large stages in Germany until 2005. He worked as a soloist in various gala bands as well as changing show and music productions.

In 2005 Oliver became a member of the "Kölner Musical Company" ensemble and was featured in the musical in-house production Großes Theater! between March 2006 and May 2006 cast as a male lead.

At the end of 2004 Oliver decided to devote himself to electronic music again, despite his personal success, and he helped Obscenity Trial to come back to life.

In summer 2005 Torben Schmidt ( Infacted Recordings ) heard a rough version of one of the new songs ( Silence ) for the first time and became aware of Obscenity Trial.

In autumn 2005 Oliver decided to have the album produced by Olaf Wollschläger , who made a name for himself not least through his work as a producer for bands such as Melotron , In Strict Confidence , Seabound and Vorsprung durch Technik . The result of this collaboration with Olaf Wollschläger can be heard on the album Here And Now on Infacted Recordings / Soulfood, which was released on August 18, 2006.

2006

In August 2006, Mark Feuerstake , who was awarded several gold and platinum records for his productions, produced the music video for the eponymous track Here And Now in the form of a road movie in the American Midwest. At the same time, the TV broadcaster ProSieben began to present the song both on the broadcast and on the broadcaster's website and also organized a competition to match the campaign. In addition, the song could be found on the insert CD / DVD of the computer game magazine Game Star even before it was actually released.

A new chapter in the live era of Obscenity Trial was heralded at the Schandmaul fan meeting, after they previously appeared as the opening act for Clan of Xymox and for And One on the "Bodypop Tour".

In November 2006, Obscenity Trial in Duisburg was awarded the “German Rock Pop Prize” in the “Best Pop Album” category. This was followed by further nominations for the successful album such as the top 10 rank in the annual charts of depechemode.de or the contribution to the sampler series "Advanced Electronics".

2007

In 2007, Obscenity Trial released the "Daydream EP", which reached a number of radio and TV rotations and was presented by PRO7.DE , MySpace , Yahoo! Music and Napster . Among other things, the "Daydream EP" features the pop ballad "Book of Love", which was written by Dirk Riegner (including producer for Peter Heppner , Xandria and remixer for Guano Apes , HIM , Oomph! And many more).

2008

Only one year later, the new studio album "That Night" is released on the Major Records label (including X-Perience , IAMX ). This is also being published for the first time in Japan, Sweden and Spain.

In the fall of 2008 Obscenity Trial played their first US tour, which took them through 20 cities in six weeks.

2009

In 2009 Obscenity Trial produced their new singles "Über's Wasser Gehen" and "Glück Auf" with Söhne Mannheims singer Tino Oac , which were written by Robin Grubert (songwriter for Martin Kesici , Sasha , Christina Stürmer ). In October 2009 the new studio album "Soulstrip" will be released on the company's own label remote music / SONY MUSIC.
