geography

Oetwil is located in the Limmat Valley at 410 meters above sea level . The municipality covers a total area of ​​276 hectares; 16 percent of these are settlements, 4 percent are used for transport, 37 percent for agriculture and 39 percent are forests.

history

Oetwil is an Alemannic foundation around 700 AD under the name Otenvilare .

Oetwil is mentioned for the first time in a document in the register of interest debtors of the St. Gallen monastery around the year 850.
