Oliver Koenig (born January 31, 1981 in Leipzig ) is a German athlete. He was initially active in the sprint and long jump until he focused on the long jump.

Life

In 1998 Koenig became German youth champion in the long jump. In 2001 he became German university champion and took part in the Universiade in Beijing . In the same year he won the German Junior Championship over 100 meters and was nominated for the U23 European Championships in Amsterdam . In 2002 he was German double junior champion over 100 and 200 meters.

In the adult category, Koenig was nominated for the 200-meter run at the Athletics World Cup in Madrid in 2002, where he finished eighth. In the long jump he was third at the German Championships in 2002 and second in 2005. At the US student championships in Sacramento in 2005, he jumped eight meters for the first time and thus achieved second place. In 2006 he took part in the European Championships in Helsinki . At the European Athletics Cup that same year in Málaga , he was fifth. He achieved further podium places at German championships in the long jump in 2007 indoors and in 2011 outdoors with third place. In addition, he became German runner-up in the 2011 4 x 100 meter relay.

Koenig started for VfK Blau-Weiß Leipzig in 1892 , LAZ Leipzig and LG Stadtwerke München .
