Olle Nordin (born November 23, 1949 in Delary , Småland ) is a former Swedish national football player who currently works as a coach.
career
Player career
Nordin started playing football at Delary IF . Via Älmhults IF , where he played from 1966 to 1969, he got to his first professional station IFK Norrköping . After five seasons he moved to IFK Sundsvall . He stayed here for two years and went to IFK Göteborg in January 1977 . In 1979 he won the Svenska Cup and ended his active career a year later.
Between 1970 and 1979, Nordin wore the Swedish national team's jersey 19 times . With the country selection, he took part in the 1978 World Cup.
Coaching career
In 1982, Nordin took on his first engagement as a trainer and looked after Västra Frölunda IF until 1984 . In 1985 he went to Norway to train Vålerenga IF .
A year later he finished working there to take over the Swedish national team. After twelve years of abstinence, he led them back to a major tournament, in the qualification he even took first place before England . After the 1990 World Cup , in which the last place in the group stage was taken after three defeats, he was fired from the Swedish association and initially replaced by Nils Andersson .
In 1991 he returned to Vålerenga IF. In 1994 he worked for Lyn Oslo before moving to Saudi Arabia in 1996. In 1997 he returned to Allsvenskan and took over the coaching position at IFK Norrköping, where he once played himself. He was in office until 2000 and then went to AIK Solna . In 2002 he quit his job prematurely because of health problems. After a break he was employed by Jönköpings Södra IF , which he is currently looking after.
Parallel to his work as a trainer, he works as an expert for the Swedish television channel Kanal 5 .
