Jan Olof "Janne" Andersson (born September 29, 1962 in Halmstad ) is a former Swedish football player and current football coach . He has been the coach of the Swedish national team since July 2016 . Previously was the trainer of IFK Norrköping , which he led to the 2015 championship.

Career

Player career

As an active player, Andersson only played in lower-class clubs, mostly in his hometown. At times he was also a player-coach.

Trainer

After initially working as a player and assistant coach, he took over his first head coach position in 2004 at a first division club as the successor to Jonas Thern at Halmstads BK . He led the club, which had only occupied places in the middle of the table under Thern, back into the top group. In the 2004 season , the club was only ousted from the top of the table on the last matchday. As runner-up Halmstad was able to reach the group stage of the 2005/06 UEFA Cup by eliminating last year's finalist Sporting Lisbon in the first round . The home game was lost with 1: 2, a 3: 2 in Lisbon spoke the away goals rule for the Swedes. In the group stage with two away and two home games, all four games were lost. The championship season was not the same as before and Halmstad was only tenth. In 2006 you could just avoid relegation. In 2007 Halmstad was seventh, in 2008 eighth and in 2009 when he was thirteenth, relegation was barely avoided again. In 2010 he took over the first division relegated Örgryte IS , who filed for bankruptcy after the second division season in February 2011 and was downgraded to the third division. Andersson then took over as manager for the 2011 season, the first division promoted IFK Norrköping , which he initially saved in 13th place from relegation. In 2012 he led IFK to fifth place, in 2013 you had to be content with 9th place. In 2014 IFK slipped to 12th place, in 2015 after 26 years they won the championship again with a 2-0 win at last year's champions Malmö FF on the last match day. IFK is now eligible to participate in the second qualifying round for the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League . In this he will no longer lead IFK, because in July 2016 he took over the position of the Swedish national coach, as announced in April.
