The US Virgin Islands participated in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada with a delegation of six athletes, four men and two women, in three sports.
It was the first participation in the Winter Olympics. The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the alpine skier Jodie Lawaetz . John Foster Sr., Who started in the two-man bobsleigh, competed in 1972, 1976 and 1984 as a sailor at the Summer Olympics for the American Virgin Islands.
