Oppenhausen is the westernmost district of the city of Boppard , which reaches up to 2 km to the Moselle and belongs to the Niederkirchspiel .

history

Oppenhausen was first mentioned in a document around 1330. In the Trier fire book of 1563 , twelve properties (fireplaces) are counted in Oppenhausen. Until the end of the 18th century, Oppenhausen belonged to the Gallscheider court and thus to Kurtrier . After the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794), the place belonged to the French canton of Boppard in the Rhine-Moselle department from 1798 to 1814 , and in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Under the Prussian administration, Oppenhausen belonged to the mayor's office in Halsenbach in the newly formed district of Sankt Goar in the administrative district of Koblenz .

Until it was incorporated into the new municipality of Boppard on December 31, 1975, Oppenhausen was an independent municipality.

The local council in Oppenhausen consists of seven honorary council members, who were last elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the also honorary mayor as chairman. The local elections in 2019 brought four seats for the SPD and three for the CDU .

Today the place has good leisure facilities with the Niederkirchspielhalle, which was last fundamentally renovated in winter 2008, as well as the adjacent lawn sports field. In the former bakery , whose ovens are still used regularly, there is also the youth room , which is organized by the Backesjugend .

For several years now, Oppenhausen has had a municipal forest kindergarten , which is located on the Winkelholz.

The St. Hubertus church in the village is a branch church of the parish church of St. Pankratius in Herschwiesen .

The district of Oppenhausen is limited by the Ehrbachklamm , at the beginning of which the Daubisbergermühle and the Rauschenmühle are part of Oppenhausen. At the end of the Ehrbachklamm and opposite the Eckmühle is the Stierwiese youth and children's camp with a refuge.

The street village of Hübingen with approx. 130 inhabitants is also part of the Oppenhausen district. In the center of the village is the bakery, next to which a chapel was built in 1960.

The place has been connected to the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig long-distance hiking trail since 2015 .
