geography

395  m above sea level NHN is Udenhausen in the Vorderhunsrück , at the height between the Rhine and Moselle , south of Koblenz . Udenhausen has about 520 inhabitants and an area of 384 hectares.

The cul-de-sac village is free of through traffic, but thanks to its close proximity to the Hunsrückhöhenstrasse , the B 327 and the A 61 motorway, it has ideal transport links.

history

Udenhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1021. The name Udenhausen is derived from the first settler, a Udo.

Administratively, Udenhausen belonged to the estate of the Lords of Pyrmont and later came under the sovereignty of the Electors of Trier with the places of the Gallscheider court , from 1816 to the mayor's office in Halsenbach (renamed Amt Halsenbach in 1927) and to the district of St. Goar in the administrative district of Koblenz . As part of the administrative reform, Udenhausen came to the Verbandsgemeinde Boppard in the newly formed Rhein-Hunsrück district in 1970 . On December 31, 1975 the Verbandsgemeinde was transformed into the non-association Boppard, of which Udenhausen is now a local district.

Until 1957, the church was cared for by the Catholic parish of Herschwiesen, today the parish of Nörtershausen.

The townscape, especially in the center around the St. Nikolaus branch church , is still characterized by a few half-timbered houses , including the "Backes", the old bakery in which bread and cakes are still baked on special occasions.

Since 1963, the so-called “Dreierreffen” has been held every three years between the three towns of the same name: Grebenstein- Udenhausen (“Unnassen”), Grebenau -Udenhausen (“Nerrehuse”) and Boppard -Udenhausen (“Orrehause”).

In May 2007 the Udenhausen local history museum was opened in the "Schusterklose-Haus", where since then, in addition to the exhibition, events have been held regularly.

In the past, Udenhausen was able to achieve some successes in the state competition “ Our village should be more beautiful ”.
