Orlando Roa Barbosa

Orlando Roa Barbosa (born July 4, 1958 in Cali ) is a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ibagué .

Life

Orlando Roa Barbosa studied at the seminaries in Garzón and Ibagué . On December 6, 1984, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Ibagué. After further studies, he obtained a license in dogmatics from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome and in philosophy and religious studies from the Universidad Católica de Oriente in Rionegro .

After his ordination he was among other things prefect at the boys' seminary in Ibagué and responsible for youth and vocational pastoral care . He was pastor in Santa Isabel and Ibagué. Eventually he became pastor of the archdiocese and rain of the seminary.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 12, 2012 titular bishop of Nasbinca and auxiliary bishop in Ibagué. The Archbishop of Ibagué, Flavio Calle Zapata , donated him episcopal ordination on July 28 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Aldo Cavalli , Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, and Rubén Salazar Gómez , Archbishop of Bogotá .

On 30 May 2015 Pope appointed him Francis to the Bishop of Espinal . The inauguration took place on July 18 of the same year. On May 29, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Ibagué. The inauguration took place on July 18 of the same year.
