Oskars Muižnieks (born December 9, 1989 ) is a Latvian biathlete and cross-country skier .

Career

Oskars Muižnieks made his international debut at the junior competitions of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Otepää , where he reached 18th place in the sprint race in the cross-country discipline , was 24th in the mass start and ninth with the Latvian relay. In 2008 he also competed in some races in the Junior European Cup. The highlight of the season was the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding , where Muižnieks was 14th in the individual, 46th in the sprint, 34th in the pursuit race and eighth in the Latvian relay. Shortly thereafter, he also started in the competitions of the juniors of the Biathlon European Championships 2008 in Nové Město na Moravě . He finished the individual in 16th place, ran in the sprint to 52nd place and was seventh with the relay. In Ufa , the Latvian competed in the European Biathlon Championships for the second time in 2009 and was initially used in the juniors. In the individual he was 28th, 27th in the sprint and 15th in the pursuit. For the relay race, Muižnieks was appointed to the men.

In 2009 Muižnieks made his debut in the IBU Cup in Nové Město na Moravě . He finished his first race, a sprint, as 53rd. In Osrblie he won his first points as the 35th of a sprint and achieved his best result so far in this racing series. At the EM 2009 he was used for the first time in an international championship in the men and reached eleventh place with Edgars Piksons , Aleksandris Sverckovs and Rolands Pužulis . At the Biathlon World Championships he made his debut in 2013 in Nové Město na Moravě, he made his debut over the sprint distance and finished in 113th place. He also started in the individual, but did not finish the race.

In cross-country skiing, Muižnieks started at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 and finished 78th in the sprint. In January 2015 he became the Latvian champion over 15 km classic. Two years later he won the Latvian championships in Vietalva over 15 km classic. He also won the freestyle sprint.
