Osvino José Both

Osvino José Both (born April 28, 1938 in Três Arroios ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus military archbishop of Brazil .

Life

Osvino José Both received on April 22, 1967 the ordination for the diocese of Passo Fundo .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Porto Alegre and titular bishop of Cluentum on June 26, 1990 . The Archbishop of Porto Alegre, João Cláudio Colling , donated him episcopal ordination on September 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Urbano José Allgayer , Bishop of Passo Fundo, and Laurindo Guizzardi CS , Bishop of Bagé . As a motto he chose FIAT VOLUNTAS TUA .

On November 22, 1995 he was appointed Bishop of Novo Hamburgo . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 7, 2006 military archbishop of Brazil.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on August 6, 2014.
