Ottaviano Andriani
Ottaviano "Ottavio" Andriani (born January 4, 1974 in Francavilla Fontana ) is an Italian long-distance runner who has specialized in the marathon route .
Life
He began his career with his equally talented twin brother Antonio, who drowned in an accident in the sea on September 12, 1994. The Antonio Andriani Memorial, a top-class street race in the brothers' hometown, has been dedicated to his memory since 1995 .
In 1996 Andriani finished ninth in the Venice Marathon in his debut in the 42.195 km distance . In the following year he won the Florence Marathon , at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998 he finished 20th, and in 1999 he was sixth at the Venice Marathon.
In 2001 he was runner-up at Roma - Ostia and the Rome Marathon and set his personal best as third in the Milan Marathon with 2:09:07 h. At the EM 2002 in Munich he came in 19th place. The following year he was fourth in Roma - Ostia, second in the Turin Marathon and sixth in the New York City Marathon . In 2004 a tenth place followed in New York.
With a fourth place in Rome in 2005 he qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki , where he finished 17th. The following year he was tenth in the Paris Marathon , and in 2007 he won the Maratona d'Europa and was fifth in Milan.
At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he came in 23rd place.
In 2010 he won the Treviso Marathon ahead of his friend Daniele Caimmi, who was arriving at the same time, in 2:12:49 and was eleventh at the European Championships in Barcelona .
Ottaviano Andriani is 1.72 m tall and weighs 54 kg. He is trained by Piero Incalza and starts for the Fiamme Oro Padova club, which is part of the Polizia di Stato . He has been married since 2005.
