history
The place name means "For the new settlement of an Ott or Otto".
The first mention was 1679 as "Ottneusiger". In 1747 the place was called "Ottneuses", a Würzburg village owned by the Ebern office. According to legend, Ottneuses with its four farms goes back to an estate that was divided between four descendants.
In 1818 the Losbergsgereuth community association was established, consisting of three towns, the main town Losbergsgereuth and two hamlets , Lind 2.5 kilometers away and Ottneuses 2.0 kilometers away. In 1862 Losbergsgereuth was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Ebern , where it belonged to the District Court of Ebern. In 1871 Ottneuses had 29 inhabitants. The Catholic denominational school and parish was in Mürsbach, 2.5 kilometers away. In 1900 the 391.97 hectare rural community Losbergsgereuth had 28 residential buildings and 133 residents, of whom 78 were Catholics and 55 were Protestants. The Catholic Ottneuses had 22 residents and 4 residential buildings. In 1925, 18 people lived in 4 residential buildings in Ottneuses. It belonged to the district of the Protestant parish Rentweinsdorf. In 1950 the place had 19 residents and 4 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 24 residents and in 1987 there were 16 residents as well as 4 residential buildings with 4 apartments.
On April 1, 1971, Ottneuse was incorporated as part of the Losbergsgereuth community into the Rentweinsdorf community. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district Ebern and Ottneuses was dissolved and Rentweinsdorf became the new Haßberg district.
