The place name means "the clearing on Losberg". It was first mentioned in 1504, when Matthew II of Rotenhan acquired half the tithe for "Loßbergsgereuth". 1576 "Losperggereuth" belonged to the centering boars . During the Thirty Years War , the village died out in 1644. In 1742 the Rotenhan had subjects in "Laspergsgereuth".

In 1862 the rural community of Losbergsgereuth was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . The community consisted of three places, the village of Losbergsgereuth and two hamlets , Lind 2.5 kilometers away and Ottneuses 2.0 kilometers away . The parish had 154 inhabitants in 1871, 76 of whom were Catholics and 78 Protestants, and 34 residential buildings. The main town had 84 inhabitants. The Catholics belonged to the parish of Mürsbach , 3.0 kilometers away , where the denominational school was also located. The Protestants belonged to the parish of Rentweinsdorf, 4.0 kilometers away, where the denominational school was also located. In 1900 the place had 71 inhabitants and 15 residential buildings. In 1925, 123 people, 76 of whom were Protestants, lived in 23 residential buildings in the 391.97 hectare community of Losbergsgereuth. The main town had 69 inhabitants and 13 residential buildings.

In 1950 Losbergsgereuth had 85 residents and 13 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 59 residents and in 1987 65 residents and 17 residential buildings with 19 apartments. On April 1, 1971, Losbergsgereuth was incorporated into the Rentweinsdorf community. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district of Ebern was dissolved and Losbergsgereuth came with Rentweinsdorf to form the new Haßberg district.
