history

The place name means "near the linden tree". The first mention was indirect in 1199, when Konrad von Lind was mentioned as a witness in a document of the preposition of the church of Würzburg. In 1231 Ludwig von Raueneck sold his goods in "Linthe" of the church of Würzburg and received them back as a fief . The next mention followed in 1232 in the certificate of division of the Würzburg bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and among other things "Linthe" came to the parish Ebern. In 1373 Apel and Eberhard Fuchs received four parts of the tithe in "Linde" and in 1446 Hans von Lichtenstein received three quarters of the tithe in "Linth". During the Thirty Years' War the village became extinct.

In 1862 the rural community of Losbergsgereuth was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . The community consisted of three places, the main town Losbergsgereuth and two hamlets , Lind 2.5 kilometers away and Ottneuses 2.0 kilometers away . The Losbergsgereuth community had 154 inhabitants in 1871, 76 of whom were Catholics and 78 Protestants, and 34 were residential buildings. Lind had 41 residents, the majority of whom were Protestants, and belonged to the parish of Rentweinsdorf, 1.0 km away, where the denominational school was also located. In 1900 the place had 40 residents and 9 residential buildings. In 1925, 123 people, 76 of whom were Protestants, lived in 23 residential buildings in the 391.97 hectare community of Losbergsgereuth. The hamlet of Lind had 37 residents and 6 residential buildings. In 1950 Lind had 58 residents and 8 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the parish Ebern. In 1970 there were 92 and 1987 98 inhabitants and 22 residential buildings with 31 apartments. On April 1, 1971, Linds was incorporated as part of the Losbergsgereuth community in the Rentweinsdorf community. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the Ebern district was dissolved and Lind came with Rentweinsdorf to the new Haßberg district.
