Otto Bertram (born May 18, 1871 in Krummennaab / BA Kemnath , † March 6, 1949 in Hausham ) was a German judge, most recently president of the Nuremberg Higher Regional Court .

Life

After attending a grammar school in Regensburg , Otto Bertram studied law from 1890 , first in Munich and later in Erlangen . On July 13, 1893, the university graduated. On August 5, 1893, he was sworn in as a legal intern at the Stadtamhof district court . On August 1, 1899, he became the land registry commissioner at District Court I in Regensburg . On February 15, 1900, Bertram was magistrate in Regensburg, in April 1900 in Stadtamhof and on July 1, 1904 in Straubing . On May 16, 1912 he became a councilor at the Passau Regional Court .

During World War I , Otto Bertram was from August 1, 1914, first lieutenant in the reserve and adjutant at the Passau district command , and from the end of 1916 in the Landsturm Infantry Replacement Battalion Passau. From February 2, 1917, he was captain of the reserve and judge-martial in the 9th Infantry Brigade and, from August 13, 1917, at the Bavarian mobile stage command office 313. He was released on December 15, 1918.

In 1919 Otto Bertram was a temporary legal advisor for the Freikorps Passau, then he was temporarily employed at the Munich District Court . On August 21, 1919 he was appointed examining magistrate at the Passau Regional Court and on April 14, 1921 at the Munich I Regional Court . With effect from December 1, 1921, he was promoted to the higher regional judge . From 1927 to the end of 1929 he was an assistant judge at the regional supply court in a secondary position. From July 16, 1927, he was deputy director at the Nuremberg Regional Court , from April 1, 1929, Regional Court Director at the Munich I Regional Court, and from June 1929 at the same time a member of the Disciplinary Court for non-judicial officials. From January 1, 1930, Bertram was chairman of the 4th criminal chamber and the jury court at the Munich I district court.

At the time of National Socialism , Bertram became President of the Nuremberg Higher Regional Court on November 1, 1933 and, from October 16, 1934, at the same time chairman of the Nuremberg Reich Judicial Examination Office. On September 1, 1937, he retired at the age of 66.

From May to December 1933 he was chairman of the Bavarian Judges Association. From November 11, 1933 he was a member of the Association of National Socialist German Jurists (BNSDJ) . On December 1, 1933, he joined the NSDAP with membership number 2,163,995.
