Otto Wesendonck (sculptor)
Otto Wilhelm Wesendonck (born January 25, 1939 in Dinslaken ) is a German sculptor .
He studied from 1957 to 1960 at the Folkwang University in Essen and then until 1967 at the University of Fine Arts (today: University of the Arts ) in Berlin as a master student of Bernhard Heiliger .
His abstract, large-format sculptures made of bronze or stainless steel have organically flowing forms. Some are moved by wind or water. They are mostly exhibited in public spaces.
In 1988 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his artistic work. In 1999 he received the Great Culture Prize from the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland .
Wesendonck has lived in Waakirchen since 1968 ; the community made him an honorary citizen in 2015 .
