description
As early as 1200 there was a small chapel with the beginnings of Romanesque and early Gothic vaults . It was expanded in 1499. In 1690 the construction of today's church began using the existing parts of the chapel. On October 21, 1695 the new hall church was consecrated. From 1691 to 1695, the nave was enlarged to its present size, lengthened and widened. The slate roofed choir tower in the east goes back to the Romanesque church on the ground floor . It is covered with an eight-sided hood on which an open lantern sits, which is crowned by a pointed helmet . The choir to the west was part of the original nave . The current rectangular nave has a baroque portal in the west . There are two buttresses on the long walls , with two ogival windows in between. The interior has two-storey galleries and is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The church furnishings include a pulpit altar and a baptismal font , each made around 1700. The organ with 16 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1869 by Carl Lösche from Rudolstadt. The church was renovated in 1772, 1881 and 1976.
