The Panzer Division Holstein was a major unit of the Army of the German Wehrmacht .

Division history

The Panzer Division (PD) Holstein was set up in Denmark in February 1945 . It consisted of parts of the 233rd Reserve Panzer Division and alarm units from Pomerania and Mecklenburg. Its original name was Kampfgruppe Panzerdivision Holstein, under this name it was commanded by Lieutenant General Max Fremerey. She was subordinated to Army Group Vistula and moved to Pomerania . Together with the 3rd Panzer Army, they defended a section on the Oder . Shortly after the formation, the division was destroyed near Kolberg in March 1945 . The remnants of PD Holstein were integrated into the 18th Panzer Grenadier Division . The division headquarters was transferred to the Clausewitz armored division near Lauenburg in April 1945 .
