action

Alice Ovitz has been a huge Woody Allen fan since she was 15 . She has seen all of his films and keeps talking imaginary to a poster of him that hangs in her room. He advises her in all situations, for example when she falls in love with the jazz fan and engineering student Pierre, her sister Hélène snatches him away from her and then marries two years later. His advice helped her in the years that followed to come to terms with the failed love affairs with other men and the envy of her sister's happy marriage. Things are going better when it comes to work, because when her father Isaac retires, he gives her his pharmacy. Things are changing there, for example, she sells medication for physical complaints, but occasionally lends out DVDs for emotional relief, often by Woody Allen.

She could be content with her life if it weren't for her father Isaac's constant desire to get married at last. Again and again he hands out their business cards to single men and even invites them home. At her father's insistence, she has to have a new security system installed in her pharmacy. Victor, the security specialist hired to do this, met her by chance in a gallery without initially showing any interest in him. Rather, she is interested in the single man Vincent, who is also a fan of Woody Allen and Cole Porter . While she is having an affair with him, Victor is present again and again "by chance". So he dines with her, his parents and Pierre and Hélène. Both he and Alice's parents suspect that Pierre is cheating on Hélène. To prove this, they break into their apartment independently of each other. Contrary to expectations, there is no evidence there. It was only when Alice received a call from Victor some time later that Pierre was meeting a young lady in a posh hotel that the fear seems to be certain. But when she and Victor watched the two in the lobby, they were surprised to find that Hélène is also part of the party and that it is just a brisk threesome .

A short time later, Vincent leaves Alice because he has to go to New York City on business . He promises her that they will be together again soon and talk about their future. Victor's laconic comment is that gods do not love, only allow themselves to be loved. She can't really mourn this loss. She just wants to turn more to life. When Hélène also spies on her own daughter Laura, she has to accompany her. But contrary to the fear that she is meeting a rich old man who is only taking advantage of her, both realize how happily Laura is in love with Achille. Some time later he will also help Alice to steer her own life on the right track just in time. Because by chance, Victor meets Woody Allen at the Hotel Plaza Athénée and asks him to allow Alice a short meeting. Everyone agrees, but because he's about to leave, time is running out. With Achille as her chauffeur, Alice makes it to the hotel at the last minute, where she confesses her love to Victor. At the same moment Woody Allen leaves the hotel and is about to get into the car waiting for him. He sees Alice and Victor hugging closely. Alice turns and waves to the friendly smiling Woody Allen, who returns her gesture.

criticism

"Lovable comedy about romantics and chaos, which does not quite develop the staging lightness of the Woody Allen classics, but is very entertaining."

“With her directorial debut, Sophie Lellouche [...] not only proves her comedic skill, she also manages a wonderful kneeling before her great idol Woody Allen. He insisted on making the comments himself and finally even surprising with a guest appearance. Allen fans will also like this lovable homage, especially since Patrick Bruel again delivers a brilliant performance. "

“The following squabbles […] may not be as original as the big role model, and yet Sophie Lellouche has succeeded in creating an amusing and entertaining homage to Woody Allen. This is mainly due to the lively dialogues and the good-humored actors. The beautiful Alice Taglioni convinces as a charming, chaotic urban neurotic, Patrick Bruel as an adorable, mischievous realist who conquers the demanding dreamer. "
