Life

Patrick Stump was originally a drummer . In his freshman high school , he played for a band called Public Display of Infection. He happened to meet Joe Trohman , the guitarist of Fall Out Boy , while talking about the band Neurosis , which Stump was also interested in. Shortly thereafter, he met Pete Wentz , the bass player for Fall Out Boy , to audition for Wentz's new project, a punk rock band. He sang Through Being Cool on Saves the Day .

Patrick Stump now plays several instruments, including a. Guitar , bass , piano , trumpet and drums. He writes the guitar and bass parts for Fall Out Boy .

Most recently he worked a. a. with The Hush Sound , The Cab and Tyga. He also worked as a singer in the songs Cupid's Chokehold and Clothes Off by the band Gym Class Heroes .

Patrick Stump also works as a music producer, mainly for artists from the Decaydance Records label , a sub-label of Fueled By Ramen .

His real name is Stumph, but Pete Wentz advised Patrick to drop the "h" to avoid any possible ambiguity in pronunciation.

In 2012 he married his longtime girlfriend Elisa Yao.

Fall Out Boy (2001-2009; since 2013)

He started out as the drummer for Fall Out Boy . But after Wentz and Trohman discovered his vocal skills, he became the band's vocalist without ever having had any singing lessons. Since a guitarist left the band shortly before the tour began, Patrick Stump has also been rhythm guitarist for Fall Out Boy .

With the release of their debut album “Take This to Your Grave” in 2003 and its successor “From Under the Cork Tree” they made their breakthrough into the mainstream. Fall Out Boy's 3rd studio album "Infinity On High" even debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Their next record, "Folie à Deux", was partially criticized by the fans, and there were also disagreements within the band, whereupon they decided at the end of 2009 to take an indefinite break during which they devoted themselves to various side projects.

On February 4th, 2013 Fall Out Boy surprisingly announced their return and announced a new album “Save Rock and Roll” for April 2013. After a subsequent tour in smaller halls, an arena tour and the "Monumentour" with Paramore, they released the single "Centuries" in early September 2014, the first release from the new album announced for early 2015.

The band also wrote the song "Immortals," which appeared in the 2014 film Baymax - Giant Robowabohu .

Solo career

Patrick Stump's first solo album Soul Punk was released on October 18, 2011.

Some time before the planned release of the album, Stump posted two versions of his song "Spotlight" on YouTube and asked his fans to decide which version should appear on his album.

He previously released an EP called "Truant Wave" and then toured the United States and Europe. However, the success failed, whereupon he withdrew from the public to work mainly as a producer.
