Paul Berf

Paul Berf (born November 23, 1963 in Frechen ) is a German literary translator .

Life

Paul Berf completed a degree in Scandinavian , German and English , which he completed with a master's degree. He then worked as a publishing editor. Today he lives as a freelance translator in Cologne . Berf translates narrative works and poetry from Swedish , Norwegian and Danish into German . He is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works . In 2005 he was awarded the Swedish Academy's Translation Prize, and in 2014 he received the Jane Scatcherd Prize for translators “for his congenial translation of the novel project by Norwegian author Karl Ove Knausgård ”.
