Paul Friedrich Wolfgang Mederow (born June 30, 1887 in Stralsund , † December 17, 1974 in Brissago , Canton Ticino ) was a German actor and radio play speaker .

Life

After graduating from high school and studying , Paul Mederow received his doctorate in philosophy in 1909 . This was followed by acting training with Friedrich Kayssler . He played first roles at the State Theater in Cottbus and the City Theater in Pforzheim . From 1915 to 1921 he was engaged at the Schauspielhaus in Leipzig and theaters in Berlin and Vienna ( Volkstheater ). Under the direction of Rudolf Beer , Paul Mederow performed at the Volkstheater in Vienna in a version of both parts of Goethe's Faust .

Paul Mederow worked from 1919 in various film and in later years in television productions . Among them was the National Socialist propaganda film Jud Süss , which today in Germany can only be shown as a reserved film under strict conditions. Paul Mederow also played in crime and entertainment films such as M by Fritz Lang in 1931 with Peter Lorre , Gustaf Gründgens and Theo Lingen , Reifende Jugend from 1933 by Carl Froelich with Horst Beck , Heinrich George and Albert Florath and in 1940 Kora Terry directed by Georg Jacoby with Marika Rökk , Will Quadflieg and Josef Sieber .

On television he was seen in two episodes of the series Das Kriminalmuseum . Paul Mederow was also active as a speaker in several radio plays and also worked as a voice actor .

Paul Mederow published the volume Das Spiel vom Doktor Faust in 1925 . Two parts of the tragedy for the performance in one evening .
