Pavol Rybár (born October 12, 1971 in Skalica , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who was in goal for HC Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak extra league for many years .

Career

Rybár began his career at ZVL Skalica , for which he was initially in goal until 1990. He then moved to VTJ Topoľčany and also played games for HC Dukla Trenčín from the Slovakian Extra League , but returned in 1991 to his home club. There he played until 1999, where he was a champion of the first division and was part of the all-star team of the extra league . During this time he also came to work at HK Nitra and HK VTJ Spisská Nová Ves . After a year at HC Znojemští Orli , the left catcher moved to HC Slovan Bratislava , with whom he was able to celebrate his greatest sporting successes. The goalkeeper achieved three Slovak championships and won the IIHF Continental Cup in seven years with the team. After the 2005/06 season he left the club and hired Amur Khabarovsk from the Russian Super League and the Belarusian extra league club HK Homel . From the 2007/08 season he played again at HK 36 Skalica and was Slovak runner-up there in 2009. After this success he was again committed by Slovan Bratislava, where he formed the goalkeeping duo with Branislav Konrád .

He ended his career in 2011 and became a goalkeeping coach at HC Slovan in 2012. Since 2015 he has been in the same position with the partner team HC 05 Banská Bystrica .

International

Rybár made his debut with the Slovak national ice hockey team in 1997 at the World Cup . They also took part in the squad of the Slovaks at the Winter Olympics in 1998 in Nagano and 2002 in Salt Lake City . He also played the World Championships in 2000 , 2001 and 2003 . In 2000 he won the silver medal and in 2003 bronze.
