Pazarcık ( Kurdish Bazarcix ) is a small town and a district in the province of Kahramanmaraş in Turkey with a population of 69,320 (2014).

The history of the region goes back a long way to the Roman Empire. Pazarcık has been inhabited by different peoples through the ages, and Turkmen tribes have settled in Pazarcık since the Turks immigrated in the 11th century. Pazarcık belonged to the Vilayet Aleppo in the Ottoman Empire . In 1877 Pazarcık was elevated to a judicial district (Kaza) and in 1917 a mayor's office was established. As the town hall became too small over time, a new town hall was built a few kilometers further on a railway line in 1938. In 1941 the district town was relocated from the then Bağdir-i Kebir (today's Ulubahçe) to Bağdin-i Sağir - today's Pazarcık. Today there are, in addition to the municipality of Pazarcık, Büyüknacar, Evri, Narlı and Yumaklıcerit, four other municipalities ( Belediye ), 77 villages ( Köy ) and 94 hamlets.

In the vicinity of the city lies the Kartalkaya reservoir on the only river in the district , which supplies the surrounding villages with drinking water and water for agriculture .

The majority of the population consists of Kurds ; Traditionally, many Alevis also live here . The region is also known for clashes between the PKK and the Turkish military.
