Pedro Parages
Pedro Parages Diego Madrazo (born December 17, 1883 in Madrid , † February 15, 1950 in Saint-Loubès ) was a Spanish football player , coach and official . He was in charge of the Spanish national team in 1924.
Career
Parages was one of the founding members of the later as Real Madrid known Madrid Foot Ball Club . During a study trip to England he came into contact with the sport, as a striker he was part of the team that won the Copa del Rey four times in a row between 1905 and 1908 . He later worked as an official at both the club and the Spanish association . In 1916 he replaced Adolfo Meléndez as president of the club and under his leadership the club built its own stadium for the first time, the Estadio de Chamartín , which it moved into in May 1924 . His presidency ended two years later. In addition, the club received during his tenure by decree of Alfonso XIII. the suffix "Real".
In 1924 Parages took over the supervision of the Spanish national team , for which he was also responsible at the Olympic Games in 1924 . In the preliminary round, the team was eliminated from the competition after a 1-0 defeat against the Italian national team, which was later coached by world championship coach Vittorio Pozzo .
When he died at the age of 65, Parages was registered with Real with membership number 1.
