Penelope Milford

Penelope Milford (* 23. March 1948 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actress .

Life

Milford grew up in Winnetka , Illinois . In 1967 she moved to New York City , where she studied with Wynn Handman . After a few off-Broadway productions, she got the role of Jenny in the Broadway production Shenandoah , in which she could be seen for seven months. She got her first film role in the 1970 drama Maidstone directed by Norman Mailer , but was not mentioned in the credits. Her sex and nude scene in the biography Valentino drew attention in 1977.

In the independent film drama Coming Home - you home return of Hal Ashby took Milford 1978 alongside Jane Fonda , Jon Voight and Bruce Dern one of the major roles. For this she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1979 . In the comedy Fort Travis she appeared in a major role alongside Richard Harris , Karen Black and Martin Landau ; She also played larger roles in the horror film Blood Trail and in the adventure film The Golden Seal . She starred in the drama Normal Life alongside Ashley Judd and Luke Perry . At the end of the 1990s she retired from show business.

Milford said he was briefly married to a composer at the age of twenty and was close friends with Richard Gere in the late 1970s . Her younger brother Kim was also active as an actor; he died of heart failure in 1988 at the age of only 37.
