The Pentax * ist DL is a digital SLR camera that came onto the market in July 2005. It has a 6.1 million pixel CCD sensor and a 3-point autofocus (SAFOX VIII).
The Pentax * ist DL is after the Pentax * ist D and the Pentax * is Ds the third digital SLR camera from Pentax . It differs from the * ist Ds by a modified seeker who do not use a pentaprism - but with a Penta mirror works viewfinder. The memory for burst pictures and the number of focus sensors have been reduced. The display was also enlarged to 2.5 ″ (with unchanged 210,000 pixels ). Like the later Pentax DSLRs, the * ist DL differs from the previous Pentax models in that it does not support older TTL flash units with analog control.
The shutter speeds range from 1/4000 to 30 seconds, the manually and automatically adjustable light sensitivity ranges from ISO 200 to ISO 3200. Like its bigger sister, the Pentax * is Ds, it can be operated with standard Mignon batteries or rechargeable batteries .
Eight white balance levels can be selected. The weight of the camera is 470 grams without batteries and memory card; it is 125 mm wide, 92.5 mm high and 67 mm deep.
Thanks to the Pentax KAF lens bayonet , KAF2, KAF and KA compatible lenses can be used. Older K lenses also work with functional restrictions if the use of the aperture ring is permitted in the camera menu.
In February 2006 the successor, the Pentax * is DL2, was presented; this was not originally intended for the European market. Initially, only the identical sister model Samsung GX-1L was offered. In Europe, too, the * ist DL2 was finally brought onto the market in autumn 2006. The most noticeable change is the autofocus which is now equipped with five measuring fields.
