Percy Eckstein
Percy Eckstein (born February 21, 1899 in Baden near Vienna , † March 19, 1962 in Rome ) was an Austrian writer, journalist and translator from Italian.
Life
Percy Eckstein's father Friedrich Eckstein was a wealthy private scholar , esthete and friend of Sigmund Freud . Mother Bertha Eckstein-Diener left the family in 1904 and went her own way as a writer under the name of Sir Galahad . Eckstein emigrated to Switzerland in 1939 and lived in Rome from 1940.
Eckstein has translated some important works by Alberto Moravia . His translation of the pedagogical standard work by Maria Montessori Children are different ( Il segreto dell'infanzia , 1952) achieved a repeated and high edition .
Eckstein has also written for Die Zeit and Weltwoche . He has published two works of his own.

- ↑ Percy Eckstein was born in St.-Genois-Schlössl (today: Villa Aichelburg ), Helenenstraße 19-21. In the villa, which was rented shortly before 1900, Eckstein's parents ran a salon in which u. a. Peter Altenberg , Arthur Schnitzler , Karl Kraus and Adolf Loos frequented. Schnitzler subsequently used the Ecksteinvilla and Percy Eckstein as templates for his drama Das weite Land .
