Petar Angelov ( Macedonian Петар Ангелов , born March 8, 1977 in Kavadarci , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Macedonian handball player .
Career
The 1.92 m tall and 103 kg heavy handball goalkeeper began his professional career at RK Pelister Bitola , with whom he won the Macedonian championship in 1998, 2000 and 2005 and the 1998, 1999 and 2005 cup winners. Internationally he played in the EHF Cup 1997/98 and 2002/03, in the European Cup Winners' Cup 1999/2000, 2003/04 and 2007/08, in the EHF Champions League 1998/99, 2005/06 and in the EHF Challenge Cup 2001 / 02, where he lost in the final. From 2005 to 2009 he played handball for the French club Tremblay-en-France . In 2009 he signed with RK Vardar Skopje , with whom he competed in the EHF Champions League 2009/10 . After just one season, he moved to city rivals RK Metalurg Skopje , with whom he became champions in 2011 and 2012 and cup winners in 2011 and 2013. With Metalurg he reached the round of 16 in the EHF Cup 2010/11 and in the EHF Champions League 2011/12 as well as the quarter-finals in the EHF Champions League 2012/13 . Since 2013 he has been playing for Vardar again. Angelov caused a stir with Vardar in the EHF Champions League 2013/14 when he defeated the reigning Champions League winner HSV Hamburg in Hamburg with 30:29 after a 28:28 at home in the second leg and made it to the quarter-finals. There he was subject to the SG Flensburg-Handewitt due to the away goals rule . In 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 he won the Macedonian Cup, in 2015, 2016 and 2017 the Macedonian Championship, in 2014 and 2017 the SEHA League and in 2017 the EHF Champions League. After Angelov moved to Antalyaspor in Turkey in 2017, he joined the Austrian first division club UHK Krems in February 2018 . He has been playing for SG Ratingen 2011 since the 2018/19 season .
With the Macedonian national team , Petar Angelov took part in the 2009 World Cup and the 2012 and 2014 European Championships . He has played 40 international matches so far .
