Pete McCann

Pete McCann (* around 1970 in Eau Claire , Wisconsin ) is an American jazz guitarist .

Live and act

McCann studied at North Texas State University in the late 1980s , and his first recordings were made in 1987 with the Lab Band. In 1988 he took lessons from Dave Holland and Kevin Eubanks at the Banff Summer Jazz Workshop in Canada. After graduating, he moved to New York and performed with his own groups, mostly in trio and quartet formations. In the following years he worked a. a. with the big band by Maria Schneider , Bobby Watsons Electric Band , Jack Walrath and The Masters Of Suspense, the East Down Septet (with Jim Hartog , Rich Rosenzweig , Rich Rothenberg , Ron Horton , Tom Varner ), the Jim Cifelli New York Nonet, the Mahavishnu Project led by Gregg Bendian , The Other Quartet (with Mark Ferber , Ohad Talmor , Russ Johnson ) and the Tony Kadleck Big Band. In 1998 he presented his debut album Parable ( Palmetto Records ) with his own compositions, on which Tim Lefebvre , Peter Epstein , Matt Wilson and Bruce Huron participated. In 2000 the album You Remind Me of Someone (Palmetto) was created, with John Hébert and Mike Sarin . In the field of jazz he was involved in 66 recording sessions between 1987 and 2015, including a. also with Ed Ware , Dave Pietro , Tom Varner, Dan Willis , George Schuller , Lindsey Horner , Curtis Stigers , Grace Kelly . Currently (2019) he plays in the band of Scott Neumann and Tom Christensen , Spin Cycle .
